16.04.2026: Fields of Action to Boost Germany's Competitiveness

How can Germany once again become a leading economic power? This was the question addressed at an event organised by the Villingen-Schwenningen/Donaueschingen section of the Economic Council at KUNDO xT GmbH. Following a welcome address by section spokesman Ulrich Dietz, Tilman Obergfell, Managing Director of KUNDO xT GmbH, began by providing insights into the history of his company: now in its fifth generation as a family business, it has evolved from precision engineering through electronics and radio-controlled clocks to modular systems for monitoring hazardous gases.

Hermann Doppler, Vice-President and co-founder of the Peter Drucker Society of Mannheim e.V., then outlined the five key fields of action required to restore Germany to its former competitive strength: technological sovereignty through deep tech and high tech; productivity and growth through mid-tech companies and the skilled trades; a strengthened capital market for start-ups and future technologies; a revitalised education system as an enabler of innovation; and a reliable political framework for sustainable growth.

The event made it clear that pragmatic thinking and entrepreneurial courage are also needed at the macroeconomic level to make Germany fit for the future.
