02.02.2026: Opportunities and Challenges in Context of the Turning Point in Security Policies

Increasingly, civil society is also becoming aware that the changed geopolitical security situation poses new challenges and very specific threats. For companies, this means that they must increasingly expect both hybrid and actual attacks on buildings and machinery, logistics and supply chains, infrastructure and utilities.

The Lake Constance-Upper Swabia Chamber of Industry and Commerce has taken on a leading role in supporting companies in prevention and in increasing their resilience to such risks. To this end, concepts, measures and tools are being developed and made available. During an event organised by the Economic Council, Mr. Tim Bartsch, Expert for Security & Defence at the Lake Constance-Upper Swabia Chamber of Industry and Commerce, gave an overview on possible and probable threat scenarios and outlined approaches that companies can take to prepare for such threats. The necessary measures relate in particular to securing energy supplies, IT & data, supply chains, as well as personnel & communication.

At the same time, such conflict situations often offer new development opportunities for companies, whether through increased demand for certain products or services or through expansion of their own range of services. Mr. Bartsch also outlined a few approaches to this.

The event was hosted by Haller Industriebau GmbH, one of the most exciting companies in the Villingen-Schwenningen area. In his corporate presentation, Managing Director Prof. Dr. Hans-Walter Haller showed how the company has developed into a regional market leader for industrial and commercial buildings over its 315-year history.
