Quantum Effects provided an opportunity to obtain information on the latest developments in quantum technologies. The event featured both leading international research institutions and application-oriented industry representatives focusing on computing technologies (hardware and software), sensor technology, and communications. The goal of the trade show is to promote innovation, international exchange, and the transfer of research into market-ready applications, and to bring together academia, startups, the business community, and politics to achieve this.
In the course of Quantum Effects, the Economic Council once again invited attendees this year to inform themselves about current developments during a guided tour and to experience hands-on exhibits from leading companies and research institutions firsthand.

This was followed by a presentation that provided an understandable overview of the physical and mathematical fundamentals of quantum computing and explored specific potential applications. In the discussion that followed, the opportunities and challenges of this technology were examined, and its relevance and potential for German small and medium-sized enterprises were discussed.
It is to be hoped that such events will actively strengthen Europe’s role in the global quantum race! Thanks to the BW Economic Council for organizing the visit and to the speakers for answering so many questions.

Even today, users already have the option of accessing the computing power of quantum computers through European cloud providers (e.g., STACKIT). Given the extremely rapid pace of development, significant progress is expected in the upcoming years, and it makes sense to already now start preparing for future opportunities as well as for new risks, for example, in the area of security.
With that in mind: Looking forward to the next Quantum Effects!
